Need story ideas?
Our vast region offers almost endless possibilities. Here are a few
suggestions to spark your creativity. You can also use our media
releases.
- Day trips and short getaways
The Festival takes place in Sechelt, just a
40-minute ferry voyage from Canada’s third largest city, Vancouver BC.
Yet, as you disembark at the Langdale ferry dock, surrounded by the steep,
snow-covered mountains of Howe Sound, you feel as though you’ve sailed
worlds awaywhich, after all, is why most people come here! (See Guest
Information for more details about visiting our region.)
- Arts and cultural tourism
Trends show that increasing numbers of consumers are seeking meaningful
experiences when they travel. It’s a source of personal satisfaction,
and, not surprisingly, something of a status symbol, too.
Our region boasts several popular summer celebrations
that welcome spectatorsbetter yet, they want you to participate! Check
out the renowned Festival of the Written Arts, the
Gibsons
Landing Fibre Arts Festival, several music festivals, a vintage
tugboat rendezvous, outrigger canoe, running and mountain bike race events,
community celebrations, and more.
- Sponsor profiles
In small communities like ours, corporate citizens play an important,
often highly visible role. Find out who’s who in local event/arts and
culture sponsorship.
- Rural communities in transition
The Sunshine Coast economy has traditionally been resource-based. But now
we face the challenge of choosing new directions, and integrating our past
with our future. Learn more about how our region is working to establish
long-term sustainability in existing and new community-based enterprises.
