Dr. Patrick Taylor, born in Ireland and now living on Salt Spring Island, is one of two over-achieving medical men joining us this year. For 31 years of his distinguished career Dr. Taylor was engaged in research and teaching. His contributions in the specialized field of human infertility have been recognized with three lifetime achievement awards.
The road to literary fame began with scientific papers and textbooks and progressed to editing, book reviewing and column writing before he was encouraged to write serious fiction by his friend, bestselling author Jack Whyte. Dr. Taylor took the advice, hung up his lab coat and microscope, and now has 11 bestselling books published. The latest in his hugely popular Irish Country Series of novels are, A Dublin Student Doctor (a prequel) and An Irish Country Wedding. The series also includes An Irish Country Doctor, An Irish Country Village, An Irish Country Christmas, An Irish Country Girl and An Irish Country Courtship. These delightful stories would make great television. Think James Herriot and co. with human patients instead of animals.
