10 Robert J. Wiersema
The best writers read. One of the best places to spend your working day if you want to read is a bookstore.
Robert Wiersema has been hanging out in bookstores for the past 20 years and he is, without question, one
of our most creative young writers. And you have to love a guy who writes longhand with a fountain pen.
His first novel, Before I Wake, appeared in 2006 and was a national bestseller and a Globe & Mail Best Book. He followed up in 2009
with the novella, The World More Full of Weeping, a finalist for the Aurora Prize, an award given by the Canadian Science Fiction and Fantasy
Association. His latest is Bedtime Story, a book about a book—a fantasy novel—with a classic Twilight Zone-type plot.
Robert Wiersema is currently the events coordinator at Victoria’s Bolen Books and a regular critic and book reviewer for the Vancouver Sun,
the Globe & Mail, the National Post and numerous other publications.
